Chances are that you’re currently paying too much for your car insurance. Many insurance providers will not give or offer you discounts unless you specifically ask for them. You could probably get a better rate on your current automobile insurance policy simply by calling your provider and asking for a better rate. Less surprisingly, you could probably save money on car insurance by shopping with different insurance providers. This doesn’t come as a surprise to most people, but many people will stick with their current provider because they know their agent, or have been with the company for a long time. If you plan on staying with your current car insurance provider, review your most recent statement and see if there are any areas where you could be saving. If you’re open to switching car insurance providers, try calling a few different providers and getting quotes, this is a quick and easy process, and can often times be very eye opening once you see what types of rates are available.

1. Make sure you get all discounts you qualify for
2. Keep your driver’s record clean and up-to-date
3. Adjust your coverage to assume more risk
4. Drive a “low profile” car equipped with certain money-saving safety features
5. Shop around for a good, low cost insurance provider

Whatever your current situation is, it never hurts to save a few bucks. I find it most beneficial to save money on payments that have to be made, insurance is one of those types of payments. If I could save $20/month, that adds up to $240 over the course of the year. Just think of the things you could do with an extra $240!
